Sounds of Central New Mexico

KXNM 88.7 FM features an original Friday-night concert series, Sounds of Central New Mexico, at 9:00 p.m. with an encore broadcast on the following Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Bill Cochran, a musician with the Tijeras-based band, Reverend E & The Vagrants, hosts an ‘On the Road Style’ broadcast of local musical talent from the Estancia Valley and surrounding areas.
The Show is broadcast on FM 88.7, live streams at www.kxnm.org and is available on demand at www.kxnm.org. The 30-minute show features 6-8 songs performed by local musicians, and includes background commentary about the bands, interviews with featured musicians, and information about their upcoming concerts and performances.
New Mexico Music Traditions date from Native American and Hispanic legacies, to the Norman Petty Studios in Clovis, where Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings and many others recorded classic songs. As part of this tradition, the Sounds of Central New Mexico honors our music traditions, and is inspired by local musicians who contribute to this legacy, and dream of hearing their music played on the radio.
