Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and members of the Wild Bunch Gang or Hole-in-the-Wall Gang as they were known during their time contributed to the history of southern New Mexico and the once booming towns of Alma, Mogollon and Magdalena in the late 1890s. The outlaws used the WS Ranch near Alma as their headquarters when they worked as cowboys when hiding from the Pinkerton Detectives.
