The Role of the Community Advisory Committee
KXNM’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a volunteer group of interested listeners, who meet regularly (at least quarterly) to gather public comments and advise the Board of Directors. Their primary role is to access whether the programming and policies of KXNM meet the specialized educational and cultural needs of the people in the Estancia Valley, and to make appropriate recommendations to meet these needs.
Additionally, the CAC’s role is to:
The CAC deliberates independently of station management and the KXNM Board of Directors, determines its own agenda and elects its own leadership. The CAC is an advisory committee only, and is not authorized to exercise any control over KXNM’s daily management, finances, personnel or operations. This allows the CAC to be independent and to advise the station objectively.

- access the programming goals established by the station
- assist in building the listening audience
- advise on providing better community service and outreach
- expand fund raising activities and operational support (more volunteers)
- review policy decisions made by the station
- convey its findings and recommendations to the KXNM Board of Directors
