Community Advisory Committee
Mission
The purpose of the KXNM Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is to provide a vehicle for effective community input to the station's Governing Board about station programming, community service and impact on the community from the station's major policy decisions. The CAC’s role is to advise the governing body of the station, and therefore must be distinct from and independent of the Governing Board.
Structure
The CAC consists of a minimum of five members from these communities: Encino, Edgewood, Estancia, Moriarty and Mountainair, and at least two members from unincorporated communities in the coverage area. The advisory committee meets at regular intervals, and is reasonably representative of the diverse needs and interests of the communities served by KXNM. CAC members are appointed and serve at the discretion of the KXNM Governing Board.
Responsibilities
The CAC is permitted to review the programming goals established by the station, the service provided by the station, and the significant policy decisions rendered by the station. The CAC may also be delegated any other responsibilities, as determined by the station’s Governing Board. The CAC shall advise the governing body of the station with respect to whether the programming and other policies of such station are meeting the specialized educational and cultural needs of the communities served by the station, and may make such recommendations, as it considers appropriate to meet such needs.
Activities
1. Establish and follow its own schedule and agenda, within the scope of the community advisory committee's statutory or delegated authority;
2. Review the programming goals established by station;
3. Review the community service provided by the stations;
4. Review the impact on the community of the significant policy decisions rendered by the station; and
5. Advise the Governing Board of the station whether the programming and other significant policies of the station are meeting the specialized educational and cultural needs of the communities served by the station. The advisory committee may make recommendations to the Governing Board to meet those specialized needs.
